Samphire Hoe, off the A20 carriageway, between Dover and Folkestone. CT16 1JT. Tel- 01304 225649. This unusual place is made from the material dug to create the Channel Tunnel. It has something for everybody - a stunning location with wild flowers, birds and sea angling, peace and quiet, painting and lovely walks.

Shell Grotto - Grotto Hill, Margate, Kent. CT9 2BU. Tel- 01843 220008. Shell Grotto is a series of underground passageways covered by 2000 sqft of exquisite shell mosaic . Discovered in 1835, no one knows who created it, although many believe it to be a temple.

Draper's Windmill, St Peter's Footpath (off College Road), Margate, Kent. CT9 2SP. Tel- 01843 226227. This is known as a smock windmill built by John Holman of Canterbury in 1854. It was restored to working order in 1968 - 1974.
Sarre Windmill, Ramsgate Road, Sarre, Kent. CT7 0JU. Tel 01843 847573. This windmill is the only commercially working windmill in Kent, selling their own flour, cereals and porridge in the gift shop.
Gazen Salts Nature Reserve off Strand Street, Sandwich, Kent. CT13 9AH. Tel.- 01304 617197. This is a 15 acre man made nature reserve with 1 1/2 miles of winding paths.
Monkton Nature Reserve, Canterbury Road, Monkton, Ramsgate,Kent. CT12 4LH. Tel-01843 822666. There are 16 acres of woodland, with cliffs, chalk grassland, pond water life as well as a bat cave.
Sandwich and Pegwell Bay Nature Reserve, Cliffsend, Ramsgate, Kent. CT11 5DR. Tel- 01622 662012. This nature reserve is only about 4 miles away from Manston Court. It is a lovely place to walk or have a picnic and watch the wild life by the sea.
